Union Advice on Response

Members may have viewed the latest Employee Update from Aurizon advising what they assert are
requirements of members and other employees in respect of industrial action. Please do not feel
intimidated by it. There are elements contained therein which may be interpreted as being adverse
action against employees by Aurizon and do not put an onus on you to answer.

For instance there is no requirement for you to identify your membership or otherwise of any
Union to your employer. If the employer attempts to put undue pressure on you about the
contents of the Aurizon correspondence, please advise your Organiser as soon as possible with as
much specific details as you possibly can.

If you have any concerns about the content of the Aurizon Update please talk to your local delegate
or Organiser.

The RTBU received similar, more detailed, correspondence yesterday evening and our national
legal team are in the process of formulating a response.

There will be further correspondence with you from the RTBU about this matter in due course. In
the meantime as stated above talk to your delegate or Organiser about any concerns and be very careful about any comments you make to Management or Supervisors that have the potential to be misconstrued.
