QR Agreements Voted Up

Voting closed yesterday in the ballot for the recently negotiated QR Agreements.

A huge majority of members voted for the agreements, in the order of 98% in favour.

This is largely a vote of confidence in your workplace delegates who worked tirelessly over a long period of time to achieve fair outcomes, in tough times.

The agreements represent a return to fairness in consultation and policy. They also provide for greater certainty at work with strong contracting measures and tighter rules around the use of casuals including the ability to transition to permanent work.

The wage increases provide recognition of a long dry spell of a pay freeze. We will provide further updates on the expected timing of the backpay, which is of huge interest to members judging by the enquiries we are receiving.

From here QR and the Rail Unions need to complete some technical processes with the Fair Work Commission and once they are ratified, the agreements will come into force 7 days from then.
We will provide further information for members as we progress.

Unity is Strength
